Mike Downing and Jim Horton Receives 2015 Realtor® Emeritus Awards
Realtor® Emeri- tus is awarded with deepest gratitude in recognition of forty cumulative years of member- ship in the Nation- al Association of
Realtors® and in recognition of valuable and lasting contribution to the real es- tate profession in the community.
Mike Downing joined the Battle Creek Area Association of Realtors® on July 25, 1975. He started his career with Dixon/Ferree Real Estate office. He later transferred to RE/MAX Perrett Associates, Inc. Mike holds an Asso- ciate Broker license with the State of Michigan. He is the Recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Mike has served on the Professional Standards Committee from 2005 to 2015. He has also served on the Governmental Af- fairs Committee.
Mike cares about his clients and cus- tomers. He has closed over 2,700 trans- actions. Mike married his wife Sharon over 40 years ago and they were blessed with two daughters and a son. Mike and Sharon enjoy spending time with their adorable baby grandson.
Jim Horton grew up in real es- tate with his family. He was a “Son of Broker” (SOB). He joined the Battle Creek Area Association of Realtors® on August 1, 1975. After several dif- ferent jobs, Jim decided to work with the Stetler Real Estate Office. After a few years, Jim started his own business called Appraisal Services, where he provides appraisals for his customers and clients every day.
Jim served on the Board of Direc- tors from 1998 to 1999. He was elect- ed for another two (2) year term on the Board of Directors in 2000. Jim became Board Secretary in 2001. Jim served on the Professional Standards Committee and Governmental Affairs Committee. Jim was also instrumen- tal when the association decided to use the Boris computer system for the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
Jim and his wife, Deirdre enjoy spending time visiting their children and grandchildren. Jim and Deirdre have been happily married for over 40 years.
