It’s comforting to know that as a patient at Bronson, you’ll be equipped with the right tools to become the best parent possible.
Most expectant moms, espe- cially first-time moms, have many questions about their pregnancies and how to care for their new bundle of joy. At your first office
visit, you’ll receive the guidebook “Your Childbirth Experience.” It features all kinds of great information about having a baby, what you can expect during pregnancy and delivery, and a directory of community resources.
Before and after giving birth, taking childbirth and family-centered education classes will help you and every member of your family learn skills to help gain confidence caring for the new baby.
And while you’re in the hospital, Bronson lactation consultants will guide you, step-by-step, through breastfeeding. There are so many benefits to breastfeeding for both mother and baby. Look for additional assistance from the Bronson Breastfeeding Center; also a great resource for breast pumps and other nursing products.
Immediately after giving birth, the BirthPlace staff encourages skin-to-skin care, also known as kangaroo care. Whether it’s after a vaginal or C-section birth, this technique is used for babies who are premature or critically ill, as well as healthy newborns. Skin-to-skin care not only creates a bond between baby and mom, and baby and dad, but provides other benefits as well.
