INSURANCE... HEALTH
What is the REAL responsibility
of your health insurance? What does
it mean to be well or healthy? Is IT a destination where you arrive at a place called health or is it a process? Is it how we feel on a given day? These are all very important questions that need to be pondered as we all get closer and closer to our golden age.
Health is a consistent compilation of choices that when learned and car- ried out that gives you an outcome, which could include few to no pre- scription medications, little to no aches and pains, and opportunities to experi- ence things later in life that are not deterred by health or disease issues. Basically, to put it in a nutshell, health is not attached to your health insurance coverage.
Health is FREEDOM! It is not an entitlement but a God-given pursuit to reach a potential to allow you the liberties that you deserve.
As our country’s financial deficits continue to spiral out of control, it has changed the whole dynamic of what healthcare is aspiring to be. Healthcare is no longer the next blockbuster drug. It is now becoming a life-style or a “new” way of life. Our technologically advanced lifestyle has lent itself to self-gratifying, convenient, synthetic, genetically-modified foods coupled with quick fixes from pharmaceuticals that cannot exist without ramifications. And those effects end up in the lives of you and me.
Most of the fast foods and designer drugs that have been developed and
distributed among the general popu-
lation in the last 30 years have no
research to show the possible side
effects in the generations to come.
What I do know is that most food and
drug consumption is done without
knowledge of the possible side effects.
But these choices are made based on
major marketing campaigns that minis-
ter to the senses of the public. Without
knowing all of the facts, you are N enrolling yourself into the population I-94 of the sick and diseased.

FOR LIFE
Dr. Mark McCullough, Special to Senior Times THE BEST HEALTH
DeNooyer Chevyland
Like I have said before, “Don’t fret.” Take a deep breath and relax and collect yourself. There is a way to tackle this lifestyle “thing.”
Being well is what you put into it. And the first thing to do is start being around those that are truly pursuing this thing called health.
Because this new pursuit is new and it consists of change, we are here to help you plan with a mental awareness and the action steps that are required for you to live the healthy life that
you were meant to live. It may be dif- ficult to start but anything in life that is worth anything requires work and in turn, there is reward.
I’m convinced that as we begin to come together with life-giving tools that our community, which is you, has to offer, we will reap the healthy benefits in our community instead of leaning on a system that was never designed to replace your healthy life- style in the first place.

Employee Reunion
Employees of the former DeNooyer Chevyland will be observing the 90th Anniversary of the business on June 11, 12:30pm at the Lux Café, 2587 Capital Ave., S.W., with fellowship and meal at their expense.
According to a June 27, 1976, article in the Enquirer and News, DeNooyer’s started in 1926 by brothers Jacob “Jake” and Jerry DeNooyer at 11 S. Washington Ave., within two blocks from the current Heritage Chevrolet Dealership, which is a partner owner- ship of Jake DeNooyer’s grandson,
Tim Kool.
At the time of the 50th anniversary of DeNooyer Chevyland Jake’s son, Donald DeNooyer, owned the business. Don was quoted in the Enquirer article as saying, “Through the years, selling automobiles and repairing cars and trucks has been a terrific business for the DeNooyers.” Don retired from the business in 1981.
Anyone having worked at DeNooyer’s, who would like to attend the June 11 event may call Cheryl Wynn at (269) 962-1320 or Roger Fosdick at (269) 964-3874. If you have memorabilia to share, please bring it.
