Meeting Needs
Senior Services of Southwest Michigan’s Meals on Wheels is more than just a meal, our pro- gram addresses three of the big- gest threats of aging: isolation, hunger and loss of independence.
Did you know that in Calhoun County: twelve (12) volunteers deliver meals on six (6) routes Monday through Friday? There are 336 seniors receiving fresh, made from scratch, nutritious meals each day prepared by Senior Services
of Southwest Michigan in their Calhoun County kitchen at the Kool Family Community Center in Battle Creek.
Rodna Stealy, Calhoun County Millage, Senior Services Assistant, and Cathy Davids, Meals On Wheels, volunteer, (pictured left to right) teamed up to deliver meals together this day to underscore
the importance of senior meals during Older Americans month. Volunteering for a route takes 60 to 90 minutes to complete and means so much more to the seniors that are visited each and every day.
Just annouced: Albion route
needs additional volunteers.
If you have 90 minutes to share a
week to donate to feed hungry older adults, and want to make a meaning- ful difference in seniors’ lives in the City of Albion, please call our office at the Kool Family Community Center at 866-200-8877 ext. 3.
Any assistance you can give will be greatly appreciated. One route,
one day a week, could take as little as an hour and a half out of your day but will make a huge difference in the health of a home bound senior. You could be someone's super hero!
Meals on Wheels is funded by Region 3B Area Agency on Aging, Calhoun County Senior Services and the Battle Creek Community Foundation.
