The holiday season is not always a time of joy for all seniors. Some are filled to the brim with blessings, family and friends, while others are challenged with lonliness as all their friends and family may have passed. While it may feel extremely uncomforatble, social- zation is the best response to social isolation. The holidays provide abundant opportunities to get out-and-about. Even if your social sphere is continually declining you can still turn to the multiple organizations that are seeking volunteers, visit numberous church pro- grams, or even visit a local senior center. See pages 20-21 for lots of activities. You might just meet your new best friend. Whether you are celebrating with family, volunteering in the community, or making new friends... be present right where you are and enjoy it.
