Beginning walking program to get you moving, reduce pain and improve your stamina. If you can be on your feet for 10 minutes, you can have success. Six week class meets three times week for one hour.

We have survived the vortex and now, finally, we can start getting outside more. This is a great time to start think- ing about our physical health and why we need to exercise and get moving more.

Dick Van Dyke that states, “To Age Gracefully, Keep Moving.” Oh how true that is. However, in our world of ever-increasing technology, we are more sedentary than ever. The fact of the matter is; we must move more, with a mindset that we are going to work our bodies.
For the elders of our community, Senior Health Partners offers a free program called Senior Fit and Fun at numerous sites throughout Calhoun County. Our hope is that you can build strength, increase better balance, move more, and find new friends. We are also offering a program that can help you create a walking program just for you. It is a one-hour program that meets three times a week for six continuous weeks called Walk with Ease. This program was created by the Arthritis Foundation to help you improve your flexibility, strength, and stamina; reduce pain; walk safely and comfort- ably; and motivate you to get in better shape! Again, this is a free program offered through Senior Health Partners but there are many other ways to get yourself moving. Think about walk-

The truth is we are healthier when we move more; our body, mind, and spirit are all heathier and that is what we want, isn’t it? So the next question, why is it so hard to get ourselves mov- ing? There are so many reasons for this. Just to name a few... our generation has more chronic conditions; our jobs are not as physical as previous genera- tions (not all but many); with increased technology we sit more; and we are exhausted by the time we leave our daily jobs (no matter what it is).
