This year, we will most likely spend our holidays at home with a small group of family and may not be cooking the large quantities of foods we might usually make. You can still have some gift exchanges with neighbors and friends and the fol- lowing recipes make great gifts. Merry Christmas and enjoy the season!

1⁄4 cup sugar
1 cup warm water
1 cup pecan halves
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoons chili powder or ground
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a baking sheet; set aside. In medi- um bowl, stir together 1⁄4 cup sugar and 1 cup warm water, stirring until the sugar
has dissolved. Stir in pecan and soak for ten minutes, drain, discard syrup and put pecans in a bowl. In a small bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons of sugar, the cinnamon, and the chili or red pepper powder. Pour the spice mixture over the pecans and stir to coat. Pour pecans onto prepared baking sheet and bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes, stirring after 5 minutes. Let cool and store in jars with tight lids. This recipe can be multiplied as needed.

Put all ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer. Simmer for about 15 minutes or until sauce thickens. Put in jars with tight fitting lids and store in refrigerator for up to three weeks. This recipe can be doubled or more as needed. Use on chicken or ribs or stir
