Grass Lake Senior Times - April 2017 Page 23
The Grass Lake Senior Center is cel- ebrating it’s 2nd anniversary this spring and is going strong with twice weekly exercise, line dancing, daily games, activities, and lunch. Once a month we have painting and floral classes, a local Elder Law attorney offers a monthly discussion about different legal issues, and the Library offers tech support.
It's all about having fun and making friends while taking charge of our health through exercise and physical activity, learning new things and playing games or building puzzles to keep our minds sharp, sharing a meal with new and old friends; engaging in sewing, quilting
or yarn projects and sharing ideas or knowledge, or having a massage just to feel good. I have had members say that being at the Senior Center is like being with family; how much stronger and better balanced they feel after complet- ing an exercise routine; how nice it is to come, talk and laugh with other mem- bers instead of just being home.
Our next phase is to identify Grass Lake area residents who could benefit from our programs and need transporta- tion to the Senior Center. We are work- ing on community outreach to local
churches, medical offices, and residents to help us launch this new service. Please contact us if you need transporta- tion to the Center or are willing to vol- unteer.
The Grass Lake Senior Center is available to those over 50 years of age. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-2pm and offer daily programs of exercise and physi- cal activity, games, sewing and yarn groups, hot lunch, and special events. Wednesday evening is Game Night from 6:30-8:30pm. We meet at:
Grass Lake Township Hall 373 Lakeside Dr.
